Soldiers from Operation Whirl Stroke have intervened in a communal clash between the Agbaka and Anyiase communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, security sources said on Saturday.
Troops stationed in Ukpiam were deployed at about 12:10 p.m. on May 1 after reports of renewed hostilities between the two communities.
By the time the soldiers arrived, several houses had already been set ablaze by the attackers, who fled before troops could engage them, the sources said.
