
The Kano State Fire Service has rescued three people from separate well incidents in Kumbotso and Warawa Local Government Areas, preventing what could have ended in tragedy.
The agency disclosed on Friday, May 29, 2026, that its personnel responded to two emergency calls within a few hours and successfully pulled all three victims out alive, although they were found unconscious.
According to the Fire Service, the first incident occurred in the Semegu area of Kumbotso LGA, where an unidentified man believed to be about 40 years old reportedly fell into a well.
Rescue officials were immediately deployed to the scene and recovered the victim before handing him over to police authorities for further investigation.

Family members reportedly informed emergency responders that the woman had been struggling with mental health challenges before the incident.
Following the rescue, the mother and child were handed over to their relatives and community leaders for medical attention and care.
The Fire Service said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding both incidents. The agency also urged residents to ensure that wells are properly covered and secured to prevent similar accidents in communities across the state.
In a separate operation at Madarin Taba village in Warawa LGA, firefighters rescued a 32-year-old woman, identified as Maimuna Shitu, along with her 18-month-old son, Harisu Muntari, after both were discovered inside a well.
