Swiss authorities have confirmed that a 42-year-old Ugandan woman infected with the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola and her husband have arrived in Switzerland after being evacuated from Nigeria for medical care.
The woman is receiving treatment at Geneva University Hospitals, while her husband has been placed in isolation at the University Hospital Zurich as a precaution.
The evacuation followed the detection of the Ebola infection, prompting health authorities to take measures to protect people who may have come into contact with the patient.
Meanwhile, Nigeria is continuing efforts to identify and monitor people who may have been exposed to the virus. Health officials are carrying out contact tracing and surveillance to reduce the risk of further transmission.
