
Suspected bandits have attacked the base of Operation Burst, a joint security task force, in the Igbeti area of Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the security facility in large numbers on Sunday and opened fire on personnel stationed at the base.
During the incident, a patrol van was allegedly set ablaze, while one of the blocks within the facility was also reportedly destroyed by fire.
Sources said the attackers may have been attempting to overrun the security post, kill the personnel and seize weapons and ammunition. However, it was not immediately clear whether any arms were taken from the facility.

The attack was reportedly repelled after personnel from other security agencies were mobilised to reinforce those at the base.
The attackers subsequently fled the area as security operatives intensified efforts to identify and apprehend them.
A source within the Oorelope security command confirmed that the patrol vehicle and a block at the facility were burnt during the attack.
The source added that investigations were ongoing and further details would be released as security operations continued.
The command reportedly said no casualty was recorded during the incident.
