A room in a residential building in the Ijooro area of Asa-Dam, Ilorin, Kwara State, was gutted by fire on Tuesday after a spark from solar wiring reportedly ignited combustible materials.
The Kwara State Fire Service said it received a distress call concerning the incident and arrived at the building at about 4:14pm.
According to the agency, firefighters immediately began efforts to contain the fire and successfully prevented it from spreading to other parts of the building.
The affected property, located at No. 38 Oluwalogbon Street, reportedly consists of about three-bedroom flats, with the fire restricted to one of the rooms.
The agency’s Public Relations Officer, Hassan Adekunle, said preliminary findings indicated that a spark from the solar wiring caused the fire after coming into contact with combustible materials.
