The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recovered a stolen Ford Jeep in Delta State and arrested a suspect allegedly found in possession of the vehicle.
The vehicle was reportedly stolen from Akpasak Estate in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The police said the breakthrough followed intelligence received through the command’s Control Room on August 13, 2026, regarding the theft.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, directed relevant investigative and operational units to immediately commence efforts to trace the vehicle and apprehend those connected to the crime.
According to the command, detectives deployed technology-driven investigative techniques to track the stolen Jeep.
The investigation eventually led the officers to Delta State on August 27, where the vehicle was located and recovered.
During the operation, police arrested a man identified as Bright Okon, an employee of a private security company, who was allegedly found in possession of the stolen Ford Jeep.

The recovered vehicle was subsequently transported to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for further investigation.
The police said discreet and comprehensive investigations had commenced to establish how the vehicle was stolen, trace its movement from Uyo to Delta State and determine how the suspect came to be in possession of it.
The command also said efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other persons allegedly linked to the suspected criminal network.
