Security operatives in Akwa Ibom and Delta States have intensified their crackdown on criminal activities, leading to the arrest of 12 suspects and the recovery of firearms, drugs, and other incriminating items during coordinated raids.
In Akwa Ibom State, police operatives arrested four suspects during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Uyo. The operation, which followed credible intelligence, was carried out at Mbiabong Ikot Essien, off Oron Road, around 7:30 p.m. on July 26.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, several suspects fled upon sighting the police team, but four individuals aged between 15 and 21 were apprehended.
Items recovered from the scene include a locally fabricated pistol, substances suspected to be cannabis, assorted charms, plumbing materials believed to be stolen, and packaged clothing suspected to be proceeds of theft.
The police disclosed that the property is allegedly owned by a man identified only as Imo, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects and conclude investigations.
Meanwhile, in Delta State, the police arrested eight suspected cultists in separate intelligence-driven operations across the state. The operations were carried out by the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) and the Abraka Division.

Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, revealed that seven suspects were arrested during a raid on a hideout in Issele-Uku on July 27.
The suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Maphite Confraternity, a cult group linked to violent crimes in the area.
Recovered items from the suspects include a double-barrel gun, seven live cartridges, a cutlass, a cult beret, and seven Android phones.
In a separate operation along Omono Road in Abraka, police foiled a planned gathering of suspected criminals. Although several suspects fled, one individual identified as Wale Morakinyo, 27, was arrested. Two locally fabricated pistols and four live cartridges were recovered from him.
Reacting to the operations, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led strategies to combat cultism, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.
Authorities in both states have urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities.
