The Kwara State Police Command has successfully dismantled a suspected logistics network supplying bandits, leading to the arrest of a key suspect in Ilorin, the state capital.
The operation, carried out by the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, followed credible intelligence and sustained covert surveillance, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
She disclosed that the suspect was apprehended for allegedly facilitating the movement and supply of materials believed to be destined for criminal elements operating in forested and remote areas across the state.
Items recovered during the operation include a large quantity of assorted cigarette brands and other consumables suspected to be part of a supply chain sustaining bandit activities.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect plays a strategic support role within a broader criminal network, providing essential supplies and assistance to bandits and allied groups.
