
The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed an attack allegedly carried out by suspected Lakurawa fighters on Ungushi community in Kebbe Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Rufai, said the command had received a report of the incident but was still awaiting further details.
Residents said the attackers surrounded the community and opened fire before local vigilantes engaged them in a gun battle.

The attack reportedly claimed the lives of two residents, identified as Ali Kaurar Yaku Marshall and Lukman Bawa, a welder.
A vigilante member, Mustapha Auwalu, was also shot in the right leg during the confrontation. He was taken to the General Hospital, where the bullet was reportedly removed.
Authorities are expected to provide more details as investigations continue.
