
The Yobe State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on crime, arresting 63 suspects and recovering a significant quantity of illicit drugs and dangerous weapons during a coordinated raid in Damaturu.
The operation, carried out on July 12, 2026, targeted identified criminal hotspots across the state capital. According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, officers from ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ Divisions were mobilized in a joint effort led by the Damaturu Area Command.
The raid covered several locations, including Mass Transit, Family Support, Zango CMC, Finance, Nayinawa Primary School, Jerusalem Ajayi, Moduri, and Sunday Market.
A total of 63 suspects, among them eight women, were apprehended during the operation.
Recovered items include Tramadol and Valium tablets, Pentazocine injections, and locally abused liquid substances known as “Sholi” and “Suck and Die.” Authorities also seized suspected Indian hemp, axes, and other dangerous weapons.

Police authorities confirmed that all suspects are currently under investigation and will be prosecuted if found guilty.
The Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling drug trafficking, substance abuse, and other criminal activities in the state.
He urged officers to sustain the ongoing operations and called on residents to support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
“Security is a collective responsibility. If you see something, say something,” the Commissioner stated.
