Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 33-year-old woman over her alleged involvement in a visa fraud scheme that reportedly defrauded more than 90 people of over ₦42.3 million.
The suspect, identified as Adejoke Ayomide, was apprehended after a petition was submitted to the police by a legal firm representing some of the alleged victims.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly posed as a travel consultant and promised to secure visas to several European countries, including Spain, Portugal, and France. Based on those assurances, dozens of intending travellers reportedly paid money into her account for visa processing.
Investigators said the total amount received from the victims was about ₦42,326,000. After collecting the payments, the suspect allegedly became unreachable, prompting the victims to report the matter to the authorities.

Police detectives tracked down and arrested the suspect following an investigation. Authorities said she is currently in custody and has provided information that is assisting ongoing investigations.
The Ondo State Police Command stated that detectives are working to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud, identify possible accomplices, and establish whether more victims may have been affected.
The command added that the suspect will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.
