Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 33-year-old woman, Adejoke Ayomide, over an alleged visa fraud scheme that reportedly defrauded more than 90 unsuspecting individuals.
Ayomide, who resides on Adesoye Street in Abeokuta, Ogun State, was apprehended following a formal petition filed by the law firm, Akindayomi Oluwa Tobi & Associates.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Abayomi Jimoh, the suspect allegedly collected a total sum of ₦42,326,000 from victims under the false pretense of securing travel visas to European countries, including Spain, Portugal, and France.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ayomide presented herself as a professional travel consultant capable of facilitating visa processing. Based on these claims, over 93 individuals entrusted her with their travel documentation and payments.
However, after receiving the funds through her Opay account, the suspect reportedly became unreachable, prompting complaints from the victims and subsequent police intervention.

Jimoh disclosed that the police tracked and arrested the suspect on Wednesday. He added that Ayomide has since made useful confessional statements while in custody.
“The suspect is currently assisting with ongoing investigations aimed at uncovering the full extent of the fraudulent operation, identifying possible accomplices, and determining whether more victims are involved,” Jimoh stated.
The police assured that upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspect will be charged to court accordingly.
Authorities have also urged members of the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of individuals or agencies offering travel and visa services before making payments.
