The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered a locally made pistol during an intelligence-driven operation aimed at curbing cult-related violence in Ondo Town.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Command said the operation was carried out by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Akure, following credible intelligence from the Ondo End Miscreant Group.
According to the statement, the suspects were arrested on April 11, 2026, in Ondo Town and have been linked to rival cult groups, including the Eiye and Aiye confraternities, which have been associated with recurring violent clashes in parts of the state.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in a cult clash on April 9, 2026, within the premises of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, where public peace was reportedly disrupted.
