Police in Adamawa State have arrested two young men in Yola for alleged shopbreaking and phone snatching, as part of an intensified crackdown on Shila Boys gang activity.
The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola North Local Government Area during separate operations this week, according to the Adamawa State Police Command.
Police spokesman SP Suleiman Nguroje said the first suspect, 22-year-old Idris Auwal of Doubeli Culvert, was arrested on June 3, 2026, in connection with a burglary.
Preliminary investigations showed he conspired with three accomplices, who are still at large, to break into a shop at Nassarawo Borehole belonging to Abdullahi Sunusi. The group made away with a bag of cash and assorted goods.
