The Abia State Police Command has arrested suspects allegedly involved in the attack on Uratta Divisional Police Headquarters, rescued 10 stolen children and recovered 15 firearms and 30 stolen vehicles during security operations across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Wilfred, disclosed this on Friday while presenting the command’s operational achievements covering September 11, 2026, to November 6, 2026.
According to the commissioner, some suspects who participated in the October 17 attack on the Uratta Police Headquarters were apprehended through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies. One of the suspects reportedly confessed to leading the gang responsible for the attack.
Wilfred said investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest other accomplices involved in the incident.
In a separate operation, police operatives rescued two children, Chiamaka Chikeze, seven, and Goodluck Chikeze, nine months old, following the arrest of two suspects over alleged child stealing. The children were subsequently reunited with their parents.
The command also arrested several suspects linked to armed robbery, cultism, illegal possession of firearms, ammunition trafficking and vehicle theft.

Giving an overview of the command’s activities, the commissioner disclosed that 211 cases involving different criminal offences and road traffic accidents were recorded within the period. A total of 109 suspects, comprising 89 males and 20 females, were arrested.
He added that four cult-related cases were investigated, leading to the arrest of nine suspects, while several criminal networks operating across the state were dismantled.
