
Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested one suspect linked to an armed robbery attack on female students of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 28, 2026, when armed hoodlums stormed a student residence behind the MOPE Extension in Numan Local Government Area.
The attackers reportedly forced their way into the apartment and made away with cash, mobile phones, power banks, and other valuables belonging to the students.
Police initially received reports placing the robbery at the female hostel on the Numan Campus. However, in a statement on Friday, the command clarified that the attack happened at a private residence off-campus.

Following a distress call, officers from the Divisional Police Headquarters in Demsa responded quickly, conducted preliminary investigations, and launched a manhunt for the suspects.
One person has since been arrested, while efforts continue to apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large.
The Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation, according to police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje.
Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activity as the manhunt continues.
