The Nigeria Police Force has successfully arrested and repatriated a Chinese national, Xu Qing, over his alleged involvement in a massive $245 million Ponzi fraud scheme.
The operation was carried out by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, following an official request from Chinese authorities, who had declared the suspect wanted for large-scale financial crimes.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, investigations revealed that Xu Qing fled China to Nigeria on November 5, 2024, in an attempt to evade arrest.
A warrant was later issued for his arrest on November 12, 2025, by the Shinan Sub-Bureau of Qingdao Public Security.
Acting on intelligence and sustained surveillance, INTERPOL operatives tracked and apprehended the suspect on April 24, 2026, at a factory located in Olowotedo, Siun Village, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
