
The Niger State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected armed robbers and thugs in coordinated security operations carried out across parts of Minna, Niger State, leading to the recovery of dangerous weapons and suspected cannabis.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the arrests were made through intelligence-led patrols and joint operations involving police tactical teams and local vigilante members.
In one of the operations along the Kwari-Begger/Maitumbi axis of Minna, three suspects were apprehended while allegedly attempting to rob passengers in a tricycle.
The suspects were identified as Sadiq Ibrahim (25), Abdulazeez Ahmed (25), and Ibrahim Abdullahi (26). Police recovered two cutlasses and a jackknife from them.
The suspects were also said to have admitted during questioning that they intended to dispossess commuters of their phones and other valuables.
In another operation targeting criminal hideouts around Sabon-Gari, Abdulsalam Quarters, Tayi Village, and Seyeno areas, seven additional suspects were arrested.

Security operatives recovered two sharp curved weapons and quantities of suspected cannabis during the raid.
The police further confirmed the arrest of a suspect, Abubakar Alfa, in Katcha.
He was allegedly found in possession of a locally made pistol and a cutlass at a public event. He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Minna, for further investigation.
In a separate development, officers recovered an abandoned Volkswagen vehicle along the Suleja–Minna road after it was reportedly left unattended for several days near Farin-Doki. The vehicle has been secured as investigations continue to determine its ownership and circumstances surrounding its abandonment.
The police command stated that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the suspected criminal networks and ensure public safety across affected communities.
