Security operatives in Oyo State have uncovered fresh details on how suspected informants allegedly assisted kidnappers during the abduction of school pupils in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, a tragic incident that also claimed the lives of two teachers and an okada rider.
According to the Oyo State Police Command, ongoing investigations revealed that some suspects maintained telephone communication with the abductors before, during, and after the operation.
These conversations allegedly provided critical guidance on movement routes within the National Park, helping the criminals navigate safely to concealed hideouts.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that at least six suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently assisting investigators.
He explained that preliminary findings suggest the suspects acted as informants, supplying operational intelligence to the armed group behind the attack. Security agencies are currently analyzing the recovered call records as part of efforts to dismantle the wider criminal network.
