The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three men in Saki over allegations of engaging in same-sex sexual activities.
The suspects were identified as Ayomide Lukeman, 22, Shuaib Aremu, 22, and Abdul-Rasheed Mufeed, 23. They were reportedly arrested by operatives of the command’s Monitoring Unit, Saki Operational Base.
The police spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that the arrests followed intelligence received on September 29, 2026, concerning the alleged involvement of some individuals in what the police described as unnatural sexual conduct.
According to Ayanlade, the Commissioner of Police directed the Monitoring Unit to investigate the report and take appropriate action, leading to the arrest of the three men.
The police spokesperson said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects had allegedly admitted to engaging in same-sex acts. He further alleged that two of the suspects disclosed having had sexual relations with the third man on several occasions.

Ayanlade added that investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the allegations and determine whether other individuals were involved.
He assured the public that the command would handle the case professionally and impartially, in accordance with the law, and that appropriate action would follow the outcome of the investigation.
Nigeria’s Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, 2013, criminalises same-sex marriages and civil unions, while other legal provisions address certain same-sex activities.
The suspects’ arrest and the allegations against them do not, in themselves, establish guilt.
