According to eyewitnesses, construction workers noticed signs that the building was becoming unstable while they were working on the upper floor. They immediately fled the site after an engineer reportedly warned of the danger.
However, four people, including a security guard and a commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) rider, were caught when the building suddenly gave way.
One of the construction workers, Shu’aibu Yaro, confirmed that the engineer’s warning allowed several workers to escape before the collapse.
Emergency responders remained at the site, clearing the rubble in a race against time to rescue the remaining trapped victim. The cause of the building collapse has not yet been officially determined.
