A tragic road accident along the Lagos Coastal Road has claimed one life and left two others injured, prompting renewed calls for road safety compliance among motorists.
The incident occurred along New Road, inward Jakande, and involved a Mack flatbed articulated trailer, a Toyota mini truck, and two motorcycles.
According to preliminary reports, the accident was caused by excessive speeding. The trailer driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the moving Toyota mini truck. The force of the collision caused the mini truck to somersault before crashing into one of the motorcycles.
Emergency responders confirmed that one person died at the scene, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured victims were promptly rescued and transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who were on routine patrol in the area, swiftly secured the accident scene, managed traffic flow, and coordinated rescue operations.
A recovery team later evacuated the damaged vehicles, restoring normal traffic movement.
Reacting to the incident, the General Manager of LASTMA expressed deep concern over the loss of life, emphasizing that excessive speeding remains a leading cause of road accidents in Lagos.
He urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to adhere strictly to speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and remain vigilant at all times. He further stressed the importance of obeying traffic regulations as a critical step toward reducing road accidents and saving lives.
This incident serves as another reminder of the dangers of speeding and the urgent need for all road users to prioritize safety on the highways.
