
A Nigerian woman, identified as Emmanuel Joy, has been arrested by police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, after she was allegedly found with cocaine valued at about N40.9 million.
Joy, said to be a resident of Lagos, was reportedly arrested near IT Park in the Sinhasa area while allegedly travelling from Mumbai to Indore to supply the illicit substance.
Police officers on patrol reportedly became suspicious after spotting her carrying a black bag. Following questioning, officers searched the bag in the presence of female personnel and allegedly recovered 57.18 grammes of cocaine concealed inside a transparent bag.
Investigators said the seized substance was valued at more than Rs29 lakh.
Joy reportedly entered India on August 14 on a seven-month business visa and had been living in Mumbai, where she allegedly worked at a hair salon with her sister.

During interrogation, she allegedly told investigators that she bought the cocaine at a lower price and intended to sell it at a higher price in Indore.
A case was registered against her under India’s narcotics laws, while police examined her passport, visa, mobile phone and other digital records to identify possible accomplices.
She was subsequently produced before a court and remanded in custody as investigations continued.
