The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Delta State Command, has secured the conviction of 248 persons for drug-related offences, while 223 cases are still pending before various courts across the state.
The figures cover the period from July 2025 to September 2026, according to the State Commander, Halilu Hamidi, who disclosed this during a briefing with journalists in Ogwashi-Uku.
Hamidi also revealed that the command counselled 693 people, comprising 463 males and 230 females, as part of its efforts to prevent drug abuse and support affected individuals.
He said the NDLEA had also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, with activities carried out in 181 locations across Delta State.

According to him, the agency’s approach goes beyond arrests and prosecution, with increased emphasis on prevention, counselling, rehabilitation and public education, particularly among youths.
The NDLEA has also continued drug-awareness programmes in secondary schools, tertiary institutions, NYSC orientation camps, religious organisations, workplaces and communities.
The command said these initiatives are aimed at reducing drug abuse and encouraging individuals and communities to take part in prevention and early intervention efforts.
