Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted multiple consignments of illicit drugs, including 44.45kg of synthetic cannabis known as Colorado, in shipments linked to the United Kingdom.
The agency also recovered additional consignments of Colorado concealed inside music speakers at motor parks in Lagos, leading to the arrest of several suspects.
According to the NDLEA, one of the UK-linked shipments contained 32.20kg of Colorado hidden in luggage at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
A real estate agent, Abideen Jide Salami, was arrested while attempting to collect the consignment using a code allegedly sent by his brother based in the UK.
A second UK-linked consignment weighing 12.25kg was also intercepted, with Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, 44, arrested as the alleged recipient.
In Lagos, NDLEA operatives intercepted Colorado concealed inside music speakers at Maza-Maza Motor Park.
The consignment was reportedly destined for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and eventually Liberia. Two suspects, Ifeanyi Obed Augustine and Obasi Ugochukwu, were arrested.
At Iddo Park, another suspect, Ifeanyi Nwokolo Henry, was arrested while allegedly attempting to dispatch 2.1kg of Colorado to Kano.

The agency also reported major drug seizures in Delta, Kano, Plateau, Edo, Ondo, Kaduna and Bayelsa states.
In Kano, 785,000 capsules of pregabalin weighing 669.425kg were recovered from a suspect, while 1,700 diazepam tablets were allegedly found concealed inside loaves of bread.
In Edo State, NDLEA officers destroyed 4,832.56kg of cannabis on farms across three forests, while 186kg of skunk was recovered from the boot of a Toyota Avalon in Ondo State.
Other operations resulted in the seizure of hundreds of kilograms of cannabis and large quantities of tramadol and other controlled substances.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), commended the officers involved and urged them to continue disrupting drug trafficking networks across airports, seaports, land borders and inland communities.
