Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have raided a suspected drug hideout in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, recovering cocaine, heroin and other illicit substances concealed inside a fireproof iron safe.
The operation was carried out in the Abuja Down/Up area of Port Harcourt as part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and distribution networks across the country.
According to the NDLEA, operatives used a welding machine to break open the safe on Tuesday, August 25. The search reportedly led to the recovery of 237 grammes of Colorado, 316 grammes of cocaine and 10 grammes of heroin.
The agency also disclosed that its operatives recorded major seizures and arrests in other states during separate interdiction operations.
In Ondo State, three suspects identified as Oyedele Daniel, 42; Taye Saliu, 36; and Kehinde Saliu, 36, were arrested along the Ipele-Idoani road on August 28. A total of 728kg of skunk was recovered from their truck.
Two other suspects, Uche Joseph, 35, and Godwin Umeh, 21, were arrested in Aponmu Forest on August 26, with 341kg of skunk recovered from them.

In Delta State, the agency said more than 176,000 tablets of assorted opioids, including tramadol and molly, were seized during separate operations.
Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, arrested a suspected cross-border drug trafficker, Akinbile Kazeem Aikins, 49.
Aikins, who arrived from Accra, Ghana, was allegedly found with 47,200 pills of captagon hidden inside cartons of locally made bathing soap. The consignment was estimated by the agency to have a street value of more than ₦1.5 billion.
The NDLEA said investigations were ongoing into the various cases.
