The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Borno State has dismissed its House of Assembly candidate, Mohammed Bunu, over alleged participation in campaign activities associated with African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
The decision was announced in a letter dated October 25, 2026, and signed by the NDC State Deputy Chairman, Umar Fema.
According to the letter, the allegations involved campaign materials displaying the ADC logo, the slogan “SABON TAFIYA, SABON SALO,” and the names and photographs of Atiku and Bunu.
Fema explained that the party began its disciplinary process at the Hausari Ward level before referring the matter to the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) leadership for further investigation.

The letter stated that the ward executive invited Bunu to respond to the allegations on October 23, but he failed to attend.
He was reportedly invited again on October 24 to appear before an investigative committee but allegedly did not honour the invitation.
Following the investigation, MMC Chairman Adamu Ibrahim endorsed the recommendation for disciplinary action and forwarded it to the state party leadership.
The NDC said it reached the decision to dismiss Bunu after reviewing the allegations and reports submitted through its disciplinary process.
