
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a tragic mob attack that led to the death of two men in Warji Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on May 7, 2026, in Bunga Hamlet, Dagu Ward, following a distress call received by security operatives.
According to police reports, the victims Kabiru Idris (30) and Ibrahim Samaila Danliti (40), both indigenes of Gabanga Village were riding a motorcycle when they were allegedly chased by a group of individuals accusing them of theft.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the mob pursued the victims from Ningi LGA, shouting “thieves” before intercepting them in Bunga Hamlet.
The two men were brutally assaulted and left unconscious at the scene.
Police operatives swiftly responded and rushed the victims to the General Hospital in Warji. However, they were later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Following intelligence-led operations, three suspects identified as Samaila Turawa, Danbaba Haruna, and Ubale Mai Kaji were arrested in connection with the attack.
They are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, strongly condemned the act, describing it as unlawful and unacceptable. He emphasized that no individual or group has the right to take the law into their own hands.
The police have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the mob who are still at large. Authorities also confirmed that normalcy has been restored in the affected community, with increased patrols and community engagement to prevent a recurrence.
The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
