A 42-year-old man, Ayei Ekpe Ibor, has been stabbed to death following an alleged dispute over ₦500 in Ajere, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Police said the argument between Ibor and Ebino Mbang Ikpi reportedly escalated into a fight, during which Ibor was stabbed. The suspect allegedly fled but was later arrested by police at a hideout in the Ajere-Ekori area.
Following the arrest, a group of sympathisers reportedly attacked the Ekori Police Division after demanding the suspect’s release. The attackers allegedly damaged parts of the station, office equipment and a police vehicle.

Police have launched a manhunt for those involved in the attack, while the arrested suspect is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The police have urged residents to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed.
