The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Plateau State chapter, has condemned the killing of nine travellers in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The passengers were reportedly attacked by gunmen while travelling towards Jos on Sunday night in the Dungus area. Several others sustained gunshot injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment.
In a statement, MACBAN Plateau chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, described the incident as “senseless and unacceptable” and called on security agencies to conduct a thorough, professional and impartial investigation.
The association rejected claims linking the attack to the Fulani community without evidence, warning that premature accusations could heighten tension and trigger further violence.

MACBAN also appealed to residents to avoid spreading unverified information, false allegations and hate speech, while urging authorities to prosecute anyone found responsible for the killings.
The incident comes amid renewed violence in parts of Plateau State, with separate attacks reported in Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas, reportedly bringing the death toll from the recent incidents to at least 13.
MACBAN called for calm and peaceful coexistence, urging residents to allow security agencies to establish the facts surrounding the attacks and prevent possible reprisal violence.
