The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has arrested 13 traders for allegedly engaging in illegal street trading across Festac, Mile 2, and Ikorodu.
The arrests followed enforcement operations conducted between October 12 and 13, 2026, as authorities intensified efforts to keep public roads, walkways, and other public spaces clear.

LAWMA Managing Director, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, warned traders against operating in unauthorised locations, noting that illegal street trading contributes to blocked access, indiscriminate dumping, and environmental pollution.
He urged traders to conduct their businesses in approved markets, adding that enforcement and monitoring would continue to prevent offenders from returning to prohibited areas.
