
Residents of Kaya village in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State have been thrown into fear following an attack reportedly carried out by suspected Lakurawa fighters.
According to reports, the armed men invaded the community on Friday, killing two people and occupying the area for several hours while residents remained indoors.
Bakatsine, a journalist who covers security and conflict issues in North-West Nigeria, disclosed the incident in a post shared on X on Monday.
According to information gathered, the attackers arrived in the village at about 11 a.m. and moved from house to house, stealing cattle and preventing residents from leaving their homes.

In a development that has sparked widespread concern, the fighters reportedly entered the Izalah Central Mosque during Jumu’ah prayers, made the call to prayer, and led the congregation while many residents stayed indoors out of fear.
The attackers were also accused of looting shops and Point-of-Sale (POS) outlets, making away with goods and large sums of money before leaving the community at about 5 p.m.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security in the area, with many questioning how armed men were able to occupy a community for several hours without any reported intervention from security agencies.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
