
A graduating student of the Kogi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah, has died in a road accident in Lokoja just hours after completing his final examinations.
The victim, Ismail AbdulKarim, was crushed by a trailer on Friday afternoon around the Felele area of Lokoja, opposite Kogi State Polytechnic. He was on his way to visit relatives after traveling from Idah to the state capital.
According to an eyewitness, the accident occurred when AbdulKarim tried to avoid some wheelbarrow pushers on the road and fell under an oncoming trailer moving at high speed. He sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene.
The Kogi Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lawal Fagge, confirmed the incident happened around 5:28 p.m. and involved a truck with registration number KMC 23 YQ.

He said the victim suffered multiple injuries, including severe head trauma, and the body had been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, for autopsy.
The National Association of Kogi State Students, NAKOSS, described the death as heartbreaking for the student community.
Hassan Mustapha, NAKOSS President of the college’s Idah chapter, said AbdulKarim was a dedicated, humble, and promising young man whose life was cut short at the moment he was set to celebrate his achievement.
