Gunmen who abducted National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members travelling from Bayelsa State to Abuja have reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for each corps member still in captivity.
The victims were among 15 NYSC members who were travelling to Abuja after completing their three-week orientation programme in Bayelsa State when their vehicles came under attack along the Aloma-Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
A family member of one of the abducted corps members disclosed that the kidnappers had contacted relatives and demanded ₦20 million for the release of the victim.
The source said the affected corps member was returning to Abuja after completing the mandatory orientation exercise when she was abducted.

The incident had earlier been confirmed by the Kogi State Police Command, which said passengers, including NYSC members, were abducted along the route.
According to the police, a joint security operation led to the rescue of 11 abducted persons, including the drivers of the two vehicles involved in the incident.
However, some victims remain in captivity, with security operatives continuing efforts to locate and rescue them.
The development has heightened concerns among families of the affected corps members, who are appealing to the Federal Government, NYSC management and relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the safe release of those still being held.
The families are also urging authorities to strengthen security along the affected route to prevent further attacks on travellers and corps members.
