Some police officers serving under the Kano State Police Command have accused the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, of allegedly frustrating their applications to join the Police Mobile Force (PMF), popularly known as MOPOL.
The officers, who reportedly sent distress messages to SaharaReporters, alleged that they applied to transfer to various PMF squadrons as far back as 2024 but have not been released by the Kano State Command.
According to the officers, their applications have allegedly remained at the state headquarters for more than a year without being forwarded to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Sources within the command reportedly claimed that more than 1,000 rank-and-file officers who applied to join PMF squadrons, including No. 9 Squadron in Hotoro and No. 52 Squadron in Challawa, are affected.
The officers appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Police Service Commission to intervene and ensure that their applications are processed in accordance with applicable police regulations.

They alleged that the delay is affecting their career progression and morale.
The complaints come amid previous controversies involving the Kano State Police Command. In 2025, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf called for the removal of Commissioner Bakori over allegations surrounding security arrangements during the state’s Independence Day celebration, allegations that formed part of a broader dispute between the state government and the police command.
Meanwhile, the Kano Command reportedly deployed 250 newly trained MOPOL personnel to border areas in July 2026 following specialised combat training.
As of the time of the report, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, had reportedly not responded to inquiries concerning the officers’ allegations.
The allegations have not been independently established, and the affected police officers are calling for the relevant authorities to investigate and address their concerns.
