
The Kano State Police Command has arraigned seven suspects linked to the April 28, 2026, thuggery attack at the Farm Centre GSM market in Kano.
The command said two more suspects were arrested following a discreet, intelligence-led investigation. They were identified as 18-year-old Sadiq Ayuba of Darmanawa Quarters and 38-year-old Abdulganiyu Abba of Mariri Quarters.
According to police spokesperson CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Ayuba confessed during interrogation that he and other suspects were mobilised and paid by one Mallam Hassan, who remains at large, to attack the GSM market and the entourage of AA Zaura.

The attack resulted in the destruction of businesses and property, including damage to a Toyota ambulance belonging to the entourage and a tricycle owned by Shamsuddeen Sani.
All seven suspects were arraigned on May 13, 2026, before Magistrate Court Number 2, Nomansland, Kano. They face charges of criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, unlawful assembly, possession of dangerous weapons, and mischief.
Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori said the command would continue pursuing everyone involved in violent thuggery and public disturbances, including those alleged to have sponsored the attack. He confirmed that efforts to arrest the principal suspect, Mallam Hassan, are ongoing and thanked the public for providing useful information.
