Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, has vowed that his country will not give in to pressure following the reported seizure of an Iranian cargo vessel by the United States, a move that has further heightened tensions between both nations.
The incident reportedly took place near the Strait of Hormuz, where US forces intercepted an Iranian-flagged ship identified as the Touska.
The waterway is considered one of the most important routes for global oil shipments, making the development a source of international concern.
Reacting to the situation, President Pezeshkian stated that Iran would “not submit to force,” emphasizing that respect for agreements and trust are essential for any meaningful dialogue.
He also pointed to longstanding mistrust between Tehran and Washington, accusing US officials of sending conflicting signals.
The development has cast doubt over planned diplomatic talks expected to be held in Islamabad. Iranian officials have hinted that they may boycott the discussions, describing the ship seizure as an unjustified escalation.

Earlier, Donald Trump said US forces took control of the vessel after it allegedly failed to comply with directives at sea.
He added that the ship is currently under inspection, claiming it had been flagged over previous concerns.
Iranian authorities, however, have condemned the action, warning that it could disrupt shipping activities in the region.
Officials also noted that increased tension around the Strait of Hormuz has already begun affecting maritime movement, with several vessels delayed.
Iran’s Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, also weighed in, stating that while Iran plays a major role in securing the strategic waterway, it should not be restricted from exporting its oil.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has reportedly tightened security in Islamabad ahead of the proposed talks, though uncertainty continues to grow over whether the meeting will still take place.
The latest standoff highlights the deepening strain in relations between Iran and the United States, with both sides maintaining firm positions and the chances of immediate diplomatic progress appearing slim.
