
One person has been confirmed dead while nine others sustained injuries after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated along the Komala village axis in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The explosion occurred when a trailer transporting passengers from Maiduguri to Damboa reportedly struck the explosive device concealed along the route. Preliminary reports indicate the device is suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents.
The victim died at the scene, while the injured passengers were evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment. The deceased was later certified dead by medical personnel before the body was released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

A joint emergency response team made up of military personnel, police tactical units, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) specialists, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters was deployed to the scene shortly after the blast.
Security operatives secured the area, cleared any remaining explosive threats, and launched further combing operations to prevent additional attacks and track those responsible. Authorities have continued to urge commuters to remain cautious while security efforts intensify across the affected route.
