Three personnel of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVIS) have been killed by suspected gunmen along the Zaria-Pambegua road in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday while the security personnel were conducting routine checks along the route.
According to KADVIS spokesman, Yunusa Shehu Ibrahim, the personnel attempted to stop a red Volkswagen Golf saloon car during the operation. The driver allegedly refused to stop, prompting the vigilance personnel to pursue the vehicle to establish the identity of those inside.
Ibrahim said the occupants of the vehicle subsequently opened fire on the security personnel, killing three of them.
The deceased were identified as Dallami Dantani, Abdullahi Hamisu and Zakariyya Musa.

The attackers were also reported to have proceeded to the KADVIS office, where they allegedly opened fire and injured Hamisu and Musa before fleeing towards Zaria.
Reacting to the incident, the Kaduna State Commander of KADVIS, Ali Audu, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, describing their deaths as a painful loss to the service, Kaduna State and the country.
Audu commended the personnel for their courage and commitment to duty, assuring their families that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
He added that security personnel have intensified surveillance around Pambegua and neighbouring areas as efforts continue to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
