Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have abducted passengers travelling from Yauri in Kebbi State to Abuja, forcing them to appeal to their relatives for help while being held at gunpoint.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, October 25, with the vehicle’s driver also among those taken captive.
A video showing the victims in captivity revealed that more than 10 people were being held by the suspected kidnappers. Some of the victims appeared tied up and blindfolded, while armed men carrying AK-47 rifles stood over them.
The captors allegedly forced the victims to contact their family members and appeal for financial assistance, apparently to secure their release through ransom payments.
In one part of the footage, a victim was seen making a phone call to his mother while an armed man pointed a rifle at the captives.

The driver, who identified himself as IBB Birni Yawuri, was also forced to send a message to his relatives, friends and well-wishers, asking them to support efforts to secure their freedom.
He explained that he was travelling to Abuja when he and the other passengers fell into the hands of the kidnappers.
Another victim, whose face was covered with a red cloth, was heard confirming their captivity, repeatedly stating that they had been captured.
The circumstances surrounding the abduction and the efforts being made to rescue the victims were not detailed in the report.
