The Students’ Union Government of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has condemned the reported deployment of armed police officers to the private residence of the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, in Ado-Ekiti.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the students’ body described the reported operation as an attempt to intimidate the Vice-Chancellor and a disregard for due process.
The union said armed personnel had earlier surrounded the Vice-Chancellor’s residence but had left the premises by the time the statement was released.
According to the SUG, any government agency seeking information, clarification or official documents from the Vice-Chancellor should use established institutional and legal channels rather than deploying armed officers to his private residence.

The students’ body also defended Ogunwole’s record in office, citing his focus on academic development, infrastructure, financial management and institutional transparency.
The reported operation allegedly took place around 6:20 a.m., with officers identified as members of the Lagos State Police Command reportedly arriving at the Vice-Chancellor’s residence over a fresh petition.
The operation reportedly caused tension within the university community, particularly over the involvement of officers from Lagos in an incident involving a university chief executive based in Ekiti State.
The FUOYE Students’ Union maintained that legitimate investigations can be conducted by relevant authorities, but insisted that such actions should be carried out within the law and established administrative procedures.
