Four people have been killed and another injured in an early-morning road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The crash occurred around 4am on Wednesday near Straight Gate School, Ipara Remo, and involved a blue Mitsubishi Cabstar and an ash-coloured HOWO truck. Eight people were reportedly involved in the accident.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Mitsubishi driver was travelling at high speed and crashed into the moving truck while attempting to overtake. Speeding, wrongful overtaking and driver fatigue were identified as preliminary contributing factors.
Four male adults died in the crash, while another sustained injuries. The remaining three people escaped unhurt.

FRSC rescue personnel arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the distress call. The injured victim was taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the FOS Mortuary, Ipara.
The two vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Police Motor Traffic Division in Isara for further investigation.
The FRSC urged motorists to avoid speeding, driving while fatigued and dangerous overtaking, particularly during early-morning and long-distance journeys.
