Fear has reportedly returned to some farming communities in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State following an alleged attack on a rubber tapper and his 12-year-old son.
The incident occurred on Monday, September 14, 2026, along a bush path between Emu Ebendo and Umusam Ogbe, as the victims were returning from a rubber plantation.
The farmer, identified as John Ogoro, was reportedly travelling with his son, Godswill, when three armed men allegedly stopped them and ordered them to kneel.
According to Godswill, the attackers accused his father of killing their cattle. He said his father denied the allegation and explained that he was only a rubber tapper.
The situation allegedly escalated when the men cocked their guns, forcing Ogoro to flee. The attackers reportedly fired at him as he ran, leaving him injured, while their motorcycle was allegedly set ablaze.

Ogoro was later rescued after a neighbour raised the alarm. He was taken to Donak Hospital in Kwale for treatment and was subsequently discharged.
The incident has reportedly heightened concerns among residents of Emu Ebendo, Umusam Ogbe, Abbe and surrounding communities, where farmers have previously raised complaints about alleged attacks, destruction of crops and difficulties accessing their farms.
Ujene Matthew Ossai, a member of the Delta North Livestock Management Committee, said the latest incident was reported to the Kwale Police Division. He also appealed for calm, warning that continued insecurity could discourage residents from farming.
Delta State Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and said no arrest had been made as of the time of confirmation.
The police spokesperson also confirmed that the victim received medical treatment and was discharged.
