The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched an investigation into a confrontation involving Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) officials and commercial motorcyclists in Abuja.
The incident occurred at about 7pm on Thursday in the Life Camp area when a VIO official attached to an FCT Administration task force reportedly had an altercation with an Okada rider.
The task force was enforcing the restriction on commercial motorcycles operating on major roads and routes within the Federal Capital Territory.
The disagreement later escalated into a confrontation, prompting the police to intervene and commence an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, ordered an immediate and comprehensive investigation to determine what led to the confrontation.
The police said normalcy had returned to the Life Camp area and urged residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear.
The command also advised residents to remain security-conscious and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines.
The police said further information would be released as the investigation progresses.
