
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug dealers in separate intelligence-led operations in Nkanu East Local Government Area.
According to police spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe, the raids are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle illicit drug networks and other criminal activities across the state.
On May 21, 2026, operatives from the Surveillance Team of the Agbani Area Command raided a notorious “black spot” at Umuiba Nara.
During the early morning operation, officers arrested 35-year-old Ani James, who was allegedly found with sachets and wraps of substances suspected to be cannabis and other illicit drugs. The suspect reportedly admitted to dealing in cannabis variants known locally as “Loud” and “Colos.”

In a separate operation on May 16, police acted on credible intelligence to arrest 50-year-old Edeh Ikechukwu in the Isigwe Ugbawka community.
Officers recovered large quantities of weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa from him. The suspect allegedly confessed to running an illicit drug trade for about five years.
The command said investigations into both cases are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court once concluded.
Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and urged residents to provide timely information to support security operations.
