The Ekiti State Police Command has detained some officers accused of allegedly extorting and intimidating a biker during a stop-and-search operation.
The development followed a complaint filed by representatives of the Biker Association, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) Chapter, over the alleged conduct of the officers.
The association alleged that one of its members was travelling alone from Itapa to Ikole-Ekiti when he was stopped by a police patrol team.
The biker was allegedly subjected to a demand for money under circumstances the association considered improper.
A video showing the encounter between the biker and the police officers later went viral on social media, generating reactions from members of the public.
The police said the complaint was received at the Ilupeju Police Division on October 6, 2026, after which preliminary inquiries were immediately launched.
According to the command, the officers involved were identified and taken into custody for questioning as investigations commenced.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, said the investigation would establish the circumstances surrounding the allegations of extortion, intimidation, disobedience to lawful orders and other forms of unprofessional conduct.

It also condemned extortion, intimidation and abuse of authority, stressing that officers found guilty of misconduct would face appropriate sanctions in accordance with police regulations and the law.
