
The Edo State Police Command has arrested seven suspected cult members in Otuo and recovered a six-month-old baby who was allegedly stolen and taken to Imo State.
The command also arrested suspects linked to the alleged sexual abuse and online circulation of footage involving a young girl in the Ekiadolor area.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed the developments while briefing journalists on the command’s recent operational activities.
According to her, the arrests and recovery followed intelligence-led operations aimed at tackling criminal activities and protecting lives and property across Edo State.
The police also carried out a week-long joint clearance operation in parts of Edo North, targeting suspected criminal hideouts in forest areas. The operation reportedly recorded no kidnapping incident in the affected communities during the period.

The recovered six-month-old baby was reunited with the family after police operatives from the Gender and Family Unit traced the child to Imo State and arrested suspects allegedly connected to the incident.
In a separate operation, officers of the Otuo Division arrested seven suspected cult members as part of efforts to curb cult-related activities in the area.
Police also apprehended suspects allegedly involved in the abuse and online exposure of a young girl in Ekiadolor.
The command further disclosed the arrest of a 37-year-old man over the alleged rape of a 70-year-old woman in Igueben. Police said investigations into the case are ongoing.
The Edo State Police Command urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies and warned against cultism, criminal associations and the use of social media to threaten, humiliate or sexually violate others.
The police said suspects in the various cases would face prosecution where investigations establish their culpability.
