
Youths in Idjerhe Kingdom, Delta State, have recovered an abandoned locally made firearm in the community.
The President of the Idjerhe Youths Council, Desmond Emoefe Agbigbe, disclosed the recovery in a statement shared on Facebook.
The statement, signed by the council’s Secretary, Kingsley Ikewun, said the recovery was part of ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in the kingdom.
Agbigbe said the Youth Council remained committed to supporting peace, security and the protection of lives and property across Idjerhe.
He urged youths in the kingdom to shun violence, unlawful activities and the possession of illegal firearms.
The youth leader also called on anyone in possession of unlawful weapons to surrender them to the appropriate security authorities in the interest of public safety and peaceful coexistence.

Agbigbe extended an appeal to members of various confraternities who were willing to renounce violence and abandon unlawful activities to work with the Youth Council towards peace and development.
He invited such individuals to visit the Youth President’s Secretariat for constructive engagement, assuring them of an opportunity for peaceful dialogue.
The youth leader further urged community leaders, stakeholders and youths to remain committed to restoring peace, unity and development in Idjerhe Kingdom.
He stressed that building a safer and more prosperous community would require the cooperation, vigilance and support of everyone.
