A Federal High Court in Abuja has discharged Nollywood actress Angela Okorie and struck out the defamation charges filed against her by the police.
Justice Emeka Nwite delivered the ruling on Tuesday after the prosecution, led by Victor Okoye, withdrew the case when it was called. Okoye informed the court that the decision to withdraw the charge was based on directives from his office, citing Section 108 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015, following an amicable resolution between the parties involved.
Okorie’s counsel, Emerie Onyemelukwe, did not oppose the application, stating that he was in agreement with the withdrawal.
With no objections raised, Justice Nwite formally discharged the actress and struck out the case.
The charges originated from a petition filed by fellow actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie, which led to the Inspector-General of Police accusing Okorie of cyberbullying.

Earlier in the proceedings, on January 30, the court had granted Okorie bail in the sum of ₦5 million after she was re-arraigned on a seven-count charge related to alleged cybercrimes.
According to the amended charge, Okorie, alongside a co-accused, Ifeoma Mbonu (who is currently at large), was alleged to have engaged in cyberstalking and defamation by posting statements on Instagram and TikTok that described Johnson-Okojie as a “blood-sucking demon.”
