
Nigeria has officially been admitted into the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Grade A Coaching Convention after a nine-year wait.
The approval was communicated to the Nigeria Football Federation in a letter signed by CAF’s Coaching Education Project Manager, Jaida Zakaria.
The latest development means the NFF can now organize CAF A coaching licence courses within the country, a major boost for coaching education and football development in Nigeria.
Before now, CAF had already approved the federation to conduct the D, C and B coaching licence programmes, but the CAF A category remained pending for several years.

Reacting to the breakthrough, the NFF’s Head of Coaching Education, Terry Babatunde Eguaoje, expressed excitement over the approval, describing it as a significant achievement for Nigerian football.
He noted that gaining admission into the CAF A Coaching Convention marks an important milestone and strengthens the federation’s efforts to improve the quality of coaching across the country.
The federation is now expected to begin preparations and put the necessary logistics in place ahead of the commencement of the programme.
